What is involved in the AS Course?

In the AS Course, 50% of the marks are from the coursework and the other 50% is from the exam. This blog is used for updates on my coursework preparation, my interest in music and exam preparation.

The task set is to “create the titles and opening of a new fiction film to last a maximum of two minutes”.

The coursework is split into three parts: Research and Planning, Main Exercise and the Evaluation.

Research and Planning

All of the work from the research and planning goes on the blog and all of the marks for Research and Planning comes from the blog. The blog doesn’t all have to be text – it can contain lots of media forms. The research I shall find is what the opening of a film is like and what it contains. I shall also be planning the opening of the film and what the titles will look like.

Main Exercise

The main exercise is the task itself – to “create the titles and opening of a new fiction film to last a maximum of two minutes”.

The main exercise contains the practical work – filming and editing. The research and planning will come in handy in the main exercise as, I can incorporate the research into this.

Evaluation

The evaluation is seven questions about the film opening I have created. The blog, again, will be used to answer the questions. From what I have learnt, the best marks go to the students who have seven things in their evaluation.

There is a breakdown of the course.
